We are all activists at heart,

though we have forgotten where to start.

But let that first line be a clue,
to where to find the activist in you.

She waits to be woken,
until some else has finally spoken.

Just stop where you are,
ask yourself—how have I come this far.

Just stay there and listen,
you’ll see the sun has already risen.

You’ve already discovered your skill,
now it is time to test your will.

Some of us dance sing and play,
others meditate and pray.

Some of us sit down to write,
others stand up to fight.

Some of us protest and preach,
others mother and teach.

But anyway it comes,
activism isn’t just for some.

You can be a chef or magician,
lawyer, doctor or politician.

Just in whatever you do,
think about the earth and the future too.

We all have a role,
activism rests in all of our souls.
